Dave Adams is a retired mechanic, native Oregonian, and baby boomer who was born in Klamath Falls, 1953. He spent most of his formative years in Eugene, Oregon. When he was 15, his family moved to Portland. He graduated from Beaverton high school in 1971.
In 1973 he enrolled in the Mt. Hood Community College foreign car mechanic program and worked as a line mechanic for a few years. His passion for sports cars soon led him to start Lake Oswego Restorations, his small business specializing in mid-century European sports cars.
After sports cars, Adams’ second passion has always been politics. Over the last three decades Adams worked on half a dozen successful Mayoral campaigns, numerous successful City Council races, and handful of County Chair and Commission campaigns. His top priorities have been land use, conservation, environment, public transportation and community organizing.
In 2006, Adams was chief petitioner for the formation of the Stafford hamlet and was instrumental in organizing his community to create a new County designation for the area.
In 2007, he executed the pre-cursor to the LoveAmerica? campaign called LoveOregon?. It was coordinated with the prop 49 campaign, a state-wide ballot measure to preserve Oregon’s unique land use system. Love Oregon? featured similar messages in black stencil font: Apples or Asphalt - Strip Malls or Strawberry Fields - Parking Lots or Pears- Congestion of Cornfields. The success of this campaign confirmed his best suspicions about how easy it is to reach voters with this type of stripped down, minimalistic sign strategy. He is excited to be transposing that lesson to LoveAmerica?, a campaign calling on his fellow citizens to openly and proudly reclaim their love of country as the 2024 elections approaches.
